So, how’s your oil change business been doing lately? Have you noticed it’s been soft, but you still feel like you’ve got all the work you can handle? Well, the fact of the matter is your oil changes are probably soft. You probably think that it’s COVID. Well, things have recovered since COVID in terms of miles driven, and also the number of oil changes. So you can’t really blame it on COVID. Oil changes are critical for your business and having a program or a plan to sell and implement these is critical because oil changes can drive additional work. And also the car count at your shop. So if you’re avoiding oil changes, in other words, you’re asking that customer to come back later, or you’re not busy or to schedule it this time and not taking care of their needs or what they expect of your business, well, you could lose that customer to another shop, or worse yet, another quick lube.

So look at your oil change business. Look at the customer. Look at what you’re doing for that customer when you’re changing their oil. In other words, you’re making sure that their car will last and not break down. And the bonuses for them, well, they have a technician performing the inspection on the vehicle. This way, if there’s any problems with the brakes, the chassis or tires, not only can they advise the customer of that, but they can do something about it, which quick lubes generally can’t do. So keep in mind, your oil change business is critical to car counts, revenue, and also customer satisfaction. I’m Andrew Markel. Thank you very much.
